I wrote a song
for you,
and it was
just perfect

and all the world
fell in love with you
because they loved
my song—

which wasn’t at all
my original intent…

so I had to say
that it wasn’t about you—
leaving the whole world
heartbroken and forlorn,

and leaving us
pretty much
where we were before.
