Christmas Morning

The best part of Christmas morning
is when everyone else
is asleep—
all is calm;
all is bright—
and you have
some time alone
with your coffee
and your spirit
to reflect in peace
on how strange it was
that God would think
to shoehorn himself
into a tiny human baby
to get a message through
to us.
